Sometimes I like to browse when I shop, but those pesky sales people always bother me with “How may I help you?” or “What are you looking for”. So how can I ward these people off without coming across rude?

I (sorta) hate to say it, but they won’t really ever stop. I used to work in retail, and the main reason its done is to ward off potential retail thefts. That said the best answer would be is to simply smile and say, “No thank you, I would just like to browse”. That way you can tell them you just want to browse and they will know that you’re less likely to look like a potential theif.
